Okay, you know I'm a sucker for the newborn session right? I was so excited to hear Sara had her little boy and being pregnant myself, I was dying to have a newborn session after the rush of family sessions this fall. Sara's husband had to leave town the day before so little Fletcher got to be the only dude at the session. The little guy at a week old is already surrounded by chicks! Lucky guy!

As fall family sessions wind down, I decided to challenge myself with another workshop. After countless workshops this year and a year of incredible growth, I thought I would wind down my year with a little relaxation... then I remembered I'm TERRIBLE at relaxing!
One of my all time favorite photography forums is Clickin Moms. I joined them back in March and was blown away by the talent on that site. Since March, I've been a bit addicted to their workshops. One workshop everyone talks about is Composition and Creativity. It's an advanced course and a demanding workshop and this was the last run of this workshop for a while and I wanted in... but it sold out in one minute. Seriously. Later they opened up spots for study alongs and I jumped at the opportunity.
Here are a few of my images from the last two weeks.
I'm so drawn to the raw feel of these images and I love that the last two weeks I've focused on taking pictures of my family-the loves of my life!

Jenson Family Session and Dash for Smiles {Family photographer- Golden, CO}

This was a session I donated to Dash for Smiles, an organization that supports cleft lip and palate programs in Denver. I first heard of Dash for Smiles through another family I photographed a while back and was more than happy to donate a session to this year's race! You can read more about Dash for Smiles here.
The Jenson family won the bid and contacted me for a family session a few weeks later. They sounded super fun and I was so excited to meet them for their family portrait session! We met at the historic park in Golden where the leaves were still a gorgeous tone of yellow and since we met on a week night, the park was pretty empty! Score for me!
This session was so fun! First, the Jenson family is just as sweet as could be and their kids are adorable. Colton is the oldest and was such a huge help. Abigail was such a cutie, loved picking out sticks and had the cutest outfit. Chase the littlest guy did whatever he could to be front and center! That little Chase was too funny! One of the highlights of this session was walking back to the chicken coop where the kids were let in side to actually hold a chicken!

Can we stop and talk about Mia for a second? I fell in love with this girl. LOVE!
Mia's mommy is actually the sister of another girl I know and I was so excited she contacted me for a family session because if she was anything like her sister, I knew she would be fun, sweet and of course adorable! After her first email, she sends me a picture of her daughter and I was blown away, the girl is GORGEOUS... but I was totally not surprised!
Reading over Joslyn's homework before the session, I noticed that she was crafty and seemed to be up for a few creative shots. We chatted back and forth and decided a family session that started in Bear Creek Lake Park super early for good lighting with Christmas ornaments strung up on trees would be a fun start followed by an in-home session to warm up Mia and get her in a few of her cute outfits.
I think the session turned out PERFECT... but then I had easy models!
Needless to say, I can not wait to photograph them again!!!

After her first email, she sends me a picture of her daughter and I was blown away, the girl is GORGEOUS... but I was totally not surprised!
Reading over Joslyn's homework before the session, I noticed that she was crafty and seemed to be up for a few creative shots. We chatted back and forth and decided a family session that started in Bear Creek Lake Park super early for good lighting with Christmas ornaments strung up on trees would be a fun start followed by an in-home session to warm up Mia and get her in a few of her cute outfits.

Has a month really gone by? Whoa!!!
Wow, was October busy! We started out October with snow and a steep drop in temperature and of course that happened during one of my busiest weekends. Last year I had to rescheduled TWO sessions total due to weather and at the first week of October I was already rescheduling my second session. YIKES! Thankfully we live in an awesome state and Colorado doesn't stay cold for long!
The Irwin Family was one of the families I rescheduled that weekend and thankfully we did because we were able to shoot their family session on a gorgeous day!
The Irwins moved here not too long ago from Australia and mentioned wanting to get a few shots of their daughter Caroline in a little sailor's dress. Right away I knew a family session at Chatfield near the marina would be a perfect spot to meet!
We met at Chatfield and boy were they adorable! Will is one of the sweetest boys and could not stop chatting about the car he would get if he did a good job at the session. And boy did he do AMAZING! Caroline was all smiles and soooo easy to photograph! I had so much fun with this family and can't wait to see them again!
